Seal up the doors, windows, etc. and set off some flea bombs and fog the entire area. Stay out of the area for a week or two if possible. If not, do not go around bare foot after fogging. The bomb will kill the active live fleas but they lay eggs that will hatch later and start the cycle all over again. If the hatching fleas have nothing to feed on (read bite) they die off. Each time a flea bites, it will lay more eggs. ....

I have 11 dogs and no flea problems. I use advantix which I buy from the vet and that takes care of them. Maybe you need to get a pet and use the advantix on them. It would be cheaper and less dangerous then the chemicals and would give a dog/cat a home. ....

You need to find the source of the fleas. ie, Are they in your yard? Any form of Pyrethrin-based insecticide will kill the fleas. Pyrethrin is derived from Chrysanthemum flowers, and is non-toxic to warm-blooded animals/humans. Spray a zone around your home, and then treat the inside of your home with a Pyrethrin bug bomb. ....

had a flea problem ,thought it was the pets.
Took the pets to the vet, they were not animal fleas but sand fleas(I live near the Hudson and have sandy soil)
Vet told me to use advantex on the pets and spread a generic form of permethern/ant /tick/flea granuals on my lawn.
10 days later no fleas or any other crawleys for that matter ever since !!!!!
cost $100, blistfull sleep without bites /priceless
spring and fall applications ever since ....
